A 32-year-old cyclist has died in hospital after being struck by an off-road ATV in Milton Sunday night.

The cyclists sustained critical head injuries in the collision, which occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Lower Base Line, east of Fourth Line, police say.

According to investigators, the victim was travelling westbound on Lower Base Line when his bicycle collided with an off-road vehicle that was being driven westbound by a 25-year-old man.

The cyclist was transported to Hamilton General Hospital, where he died of his injuries at approximately 2 a.m. Monday.

Halton Regional Police’s collision reconstruction unit is investigating the matter and will undertake detailed forensic examinations of the ATV and the bicycle

Police say they will not be releasing the name of the deceased.
