LONDON - The Duchess of Cambridge will not visit Malta this weekend on the advice of doctors, according to a BBC News report Thursday.

Earlier this month it was announced the duchess was pregnant with her second child, and as with her first pregnancy, was suffering from acute morning sickness.

The network cites a release from Kensington Palace saying the Duke of Cambridge will instead visit Malta to mark the 50th anniversary of its independence

The royal couple are said to have made their decision on Wednesday night.

Kensington Palace said Catherine suffers from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a sickness requiring hydration, medication and nutrients.

The visit would have been the duchess's first official solo overseas visit.
