Fire crews came to the rescue of a Brampton teen and her cat early this morning after she and her pet got stuck in a tree.

Firefighters were called to Ashwood Crescent, near Bramalea Road and Steeles Avenue at around 1 a.m. after the young girl climbed a tree in an attempt to retrieve her cat. When the girl was unable to get back down to the ground, her friends contacted the fire department for help.

Shortly after arriving, firefighters managed to get both the girl and the cat out of their precarious situation.

"I decided to climb up the tree to save my poor kitty and I got stuck," the girl said Friday morning.

"I was scared at first because I thought I was going to fall off the tree."

The teen, who was not injured during the incident, says she is just happy to have her cat back.
