A large grass fire caused quite the visual disturbance for drivers in Ajax Tuesday night.
Orange flames and thick grey smoke could be seen along Taunton Road and Harwood.
Ajax Fire Services were alerted to the fire just before 7 p.m. Ajax Fire Chief David Sheen said that upon arriving at the scene, crews found hot spots along the railway tracks.
The fire spread between Westney and Ravenscroft.
At the height of the blaze, all resources from both Ajax and Pickering were deployed, Sheen said, bringing about 30 personnel to the scene. Whitby fire crews assisted with other calls in the area.
Flames were visible to motorists for at least two hours. Many shared images of the blaze on their social media accounts.
