A highrise building was evacuated and a number of streets closed off after a large gas leak in the Mount Pleasant Road and Davisville Avenue area Thursday.
The leak started when an excavator hit a gas line on Merton Street near Pailton Crescent around 10:20 a.m., Toronto Fire Services said.
Police said a highrise building was evacuated following the leak.
Toronto Fire Services, Toronto EMS and Enbridge responded to the scene.
By 4:30 p.m., an Enbridge spokesperson said the leak had ben capped and that further repairs were underway.
There were no reported injuries.
The street is expected to be closed off for several hours.
