Mayor Rob Ford was informed he had some support from a 90’s sensation Thursday when rapper Snow dropped by his office.

The Toronto artist, known for his 90s hit “Informer,” told CP24 that he had come to meet with the mayor to show him support because Ford has been supportive of his community.

“I grew up in Allenberry (Gardens) – a housing project,” Snow said. “I know he’s done a lot for the people who have been there, especially in my community – the people just love him in there.”

The rapper said that despite the mayor’s public behaviour, he’s done a good job.

“You’ve got to look at his statistics. He’s done everything good. He’s the best mayor we’ve ever had,” Snow said.

While the 44-year-old rapper -- born Darrin Kenneth O'Brien -- isn’t typically in the public eye these days, his 1992 hit reached the Billboard Hot 100 and still receives radio play.

While he admitted he doesn’t follow politics too closely, the artist said Ford’s support for his community is enough for him.

“I’m here to support him. My family loves him,” Snow said. “I’m not really into the politics. I don’t know too much – the left wing, the right wing – I don’t know that stuff. But if he’s doing good for my people, they love him. I’m here to support him.”

The rapper also took a moment to perform a few bars of his hit song after taking a picture with Ford.

This isn’t the first time Ford has received a sudden celebrity endorsement.

In April disgraced Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson and “Trailer Park Boys” actor Sam Tarasco showed up at Ford’s office and said they also fully support him.

Ford is currently running for election. While he took two months off to seek treatment for alcohol addiction earlier this summer, the mayor has been hitting the campaign trail hard since his return, with a packed schedule of appearances at street festivals and events.
