A major downtown intersection will be closed for three weeks as crews work to replace streetcar tracks.

Starting today, the intersection of College and Bathurst streets will be closed for a project that involves abandoning old watermains, removing the eastbound streetcar platform and reconstructing the westbound streetcar platform.

Crews will also undertake road resurfacing and sidewalk improvements.

The work will result in some service disruptions on the TTC:

  • The 511 Bathurst streetcar will be converted to buses, which will divert via Harbord, Spadina, and Dundas. 310 Bathurst buses will follow the same detour route
  • 506 Carlton streetcars will still operate on the eastern part of the route during weekdays. Streetcars will run between Main Street Station and the downtown core. 506 Carlton streetcars will be converted to buses on the western part of College Street during weekdays and buses will operate both ways on College between Keele Station and the downtown core, diverting via Spadina, Harbord and Ossington.
  • The 506 Carlton weekend route and the 306 overnight route will operate as buses from Main Street Station to Keele Station.
