A 64-year-old Clarington man is facing a string of charges after he allegedly set his mobile home ablaze and then brandished two knives when fire fighters attempted to speak to him.

Police say the man, who was being evicted, deliberately set a fire at the mobile home on Middle Road at around 2 p.m. on Monday.

Once firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze, police say the man threatened to burn down another house located on the property and pulled up his shirt to show two knives he had tucked into his pants.

Police then arrested the man without incident a short time later.

Richard Allin is charged with arson, uttering threats and possession of weapons dangerous.
