Toronto police say a 43-year-old man is in custody after a woman was sexually assaulted near St. Clair West TTC station on Thursday.

Police say that a woman entered Sheppard station at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday and saw a man walking behind her. She boarded a subway train and the man sat close to her in the same subway car.

Investigators allege the man spoke to the woman about modelling and claimed he was a photographer. The man allegedly offered to help assist the woman in her modelling career by taking photos of her.

The man and the woman got off the subway at St. Clair West Station.

The man and the woman walked to an area near the subway station where photos were to be taken. Investigators allege the woman was then sexually assaulted.

Police said the victim fled the scene and contacted police.

At 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, police arrested and charged a suspect identified as Robert Clifford of Toronto.

He faces one count of sexual assault and one count of failure to comply with probation.

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West.

Investigators believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
