Toronto police say they believe a man arrested last week and accused of attacking a sex worker in Toronto’s Trinity Bellwoods neighbourhood may have targeted other sex workers.

On July 22 at about 2:45 p.m., Det. Raj Patel of Toronto police’s sex crimes unit said a suspect approached a 49-year-old female sex worker and sexually assaulted her in the area of Dundas Street West and Claremont Street. The suspect then fled the scene.

She was treated for her injuries at a hospital and released.

Peter Gorshkov, age 31, of Toronto, was arrested on July 23 and charged with one count of aggravated assault. He appeared in court on July 24.

Police believe Gorshkov may be responsible for other attacks on sex trade workers in the city, Patel could not say what evidence police have to support this allegation.

Gorshkov is unemployed and was often seen in downtown Toronto, police said. Patel said he was not known to police prior to the July 22 incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
