Toronto police say they have identified who a torso found outside a Riverdale butcher shop on Apr. 19 belongs to and charged 38-year-old man in relation to the discovery.

On the morning on April 19, an employee of a butcher shop at Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street found the torso inside a garbage bag at the rear of the building

Police say the torso belongs to 30-year-old Melissa Cooper, who was reported missing several weeks ago.

On Friday, police arrested a man in relation to the discovery.

Albert Ian Ohab was charged with one count of committing an indignity to a body. He appeared in court on Saturday at Old City Hall.

Investigators want anyone who was in contact with Cooper or the accused in the days before Apr. 19 to contact them at 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
