The OPP has released the identity of a man who was killed June 28 when his car slammed into the back of a Toronto Fire engine responding to an unrelated nearby collision.

Forty-one-year-old Success Bello was pronounced dead on the scene when his Audi sedan struck the fire truck on the southbound ramp from Highway 427 to Brown’s Line sometime after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 28.

OPP investigators say Bello’s vehicle struck a concrete guard rail, rotated sideways and slammed into the back of the fire engine with the driver’s side of the vehicle receiving the full force of impact.

A female firefighter inside the truck suffered an injury to her arm in the collision. Police said the ramp where the collision occurred was wet.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Toronto OPP at 416-235-4981.
