One man was transported to hospital with serious injuries after being shot Friday evening.

It happened in the Bloor Street and Gladstone Avenue area just after 7:30 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known. Preliminary reports indicated that two shots had been fired, police said.

The victim – believed to be in his 40s – sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

One area resident said he was watching sports when he heard the gunfire.

“I heard two shots fired,” Batist Peluso described.

“I didn’t see anything else. There was nothing else. Everything was taken care of by the officers.”

Another area resident said she was sitting outside when she heard the sound of three shots.

“My partner thought it might be a car backfiring – I disagreed just because it was in succession,” Amy Padykula said.

No suspect information has been provided by police. No other injuries have been reported.

Police continue to investigate.
