A 30-year-old man has been pronounced dead and three others have been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after an early-morning shooting in Mississauga.

Police were initially called to a townhouse complex near Goreway and Morning Star drives at around 5:30 a.m. for a report of gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers located a man lying on the ground outside the residence and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Three other victims were then located in the general vicinity. Police say those victims sustained gunshot wounds and are all in non-life threatening condition. One victim was released from hospital on Saturday evening.

According to Const. Rachel Gibbs, the townhouse where the shooting took place is known to police.

“We have received multiple calls in the past to this address for various reports. It is believed that there may have been some after-hours activity going on at this address and we are investigating that,” she told CP24 at the scene on Saturday.

Gibbs said that it is too early to say whether the shooting may have been gang-related but she admitted that homicide detectives will be looking into that angle.

Right now, the constable said that investigators are canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses in the hopes that someone may have seen what happened.

Gibbs also confirmed that police are investigating a second scene on Goreway drive just north of Derry Road where evidence that may be related to the homicide was found.

"If anybody knows anything or has any information we would encourage them to call police," Gibbs said.

No description of the suspect or suspects has been released.
