A motorcyclist is in serious condition in hospital after colliding with a taxi in the city’s Oakridge neighbourhood Saturday evening.

The collision happened at around 5:20 p.m. near Danforth Avenue and St Dunstan Drive, Toronto police said.

The rider was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries, Toronto Paramedic Services said. His condition was later upgraded to non-life-threatening by police on Sunday morning. No other injuries were reported.

Images from the scene showed a taxi with extensive damage to the windshield and passenger side-door, as well as the damaged motorcycle lying in the street with debris strewn about.

It’s not yet clear how the crash occurred.

A stretch of Danforth Avenue was closed between Pharmacy and Victoria Park avenues for several hours as police investigated the collision. The road reopened around 11 p.m.
