A male motorcyclist is dead following a collision in the city’s northwest end Wednesday night.

Police say the motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Steeles Avenue West when it collided with a sport utility vehicle turning from Steinway Boulevard, just west of Highway 27, at around 7 p.m.

Speed was likely a factor in the collision, police say.

The 55-year-old man was rushed to hospital without vital signs where he was pronounced dead.

The sport utility vehicle was being driven by a 42-year-old man.

There are currently no reports of other injuries.

Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision at the scene.
