Commuters arriving at Union Station this morning will be in for a pleasant surprise as the new York Street GO Transit concourse officially opens to the public.

The new 62,000 square foot concourse is almost double the size of the original Bay Street concourse, and includes more departure boards, additional ticket vending machines and a new customer service counter.

The concourse also includes a new covered walkway that connects with the PATH system and faster access to GO Transit platforms.

Customers will now be able to purchase GO Transit tickets at either the York or Bay concourses; however the Bay concourse will close for renovations after the Pan American Games this summer.
