Police have released new security camera images of a man wanted following a gunpoint sex assault that occurred downtown last week.

According to police, the 28-year-old female victim was walking on Alexander Street near Yonge Street just before midnight on Nov. 6 when police allege the suspect pointed a gun at her head, bound her hands behind her back and then forcibly walked her to a secluded area.

She was then sexually assaulted, police said.

The attack was subsequently broken up by three men who got out of a cab in the area, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.

“He is considered by police to be violent, armed and dangerous,” Toronto police Acting Insp. Joanne Rudnick told reporters during a case update Thursday morning.

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Rudnick said police were able to identify a suspect in the case thanks to information from community members. The suspect has a past history of violent offences but has not previously been arrested for any sexually-based offences.

He may also have mental health issues and should be considered to be a danger to both himself and others, police said.

Brennan Wayne Guigue, 45, is wanted for a number of offences, including sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, weapons dangerous, uttering threats and breaching probation.

He is known to frequent the downtown core, investigators said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
