Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud today in Toronto with a high of 6 C. The national weather agency says rain and/or flurries are also possible for the city on Saturday and Sunday.

The TTC is warning of longer than normal travel times on Line 2 between Ossington and Christie stations due to signal-related issues.

  • A military official has confirmed that at least three people are dead in a hostage-taking situation at a Mali hotel Friday morning.
  • A march will be held at 10 a.m. today around Grenoble Public School in support of a Muslim woman who was attacked near the Flemingdon Park school on Monday. Police previously referred to the incident as a hate crime.
  • The price tag for the Liberal government’s plan to accept 25,000 Syrian refugees is estimated to be $1.2 billion over the next six years, The Canadian Press is reporting.

Events:

  • The Toronto Christmas Market officially opens for the season today at noon in the city’s Distillery District. This year, the market has opted to charge a $5 admission fee on Saturdays and Sundays in an effort to help curb the crowds. The market is open Tuesday to Sunday until Dec. 20.
  • Catch k-os performing tonight at the Danforth Music Hall. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster or at Rotate This, Soundscapes and Tiny Record Shop.
  • Hey Rosetta! and Yukon Blonde are performing tonight at Massey Hall. The show starts at 8 p.m.
