Dozens of firefighters were on the scene of a one-alarm fire in Midtown early Thursday evening.

Crews were called to a four-storey townhouse at 23 Balmoral Ave. just after 6 p.m.

According to firefighters, the blaze started on a back deck before spreading to the roof of the home, and then to a second unit.

A woman and her daughter were at home when the fire started. No injuries have been reported.

At the height of the fire, more than 40 firefighters and 11 trucks were at the scene.

There was no word on the cause of the fire.
