An off-duty Ontario Provincial Police officer was killed in a collision in northern Ontario Thursday morning.

Const. David Dennie died when his eastbound Jeep collided with a westbound tractor-trailer on Highway 17 near Blind River, Ont., at around 7 a.m.

Dennie, 36, had been with the OPP for 12 years and worked at the Blind River detachment.

He was a father of two.

The 61-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries in the collision.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
