TORONTO - The price of oil remains weak but slightly above a nearly 13-year low set on Tuesday after it dropped below US$28 a barrel.

The Canadian dollar -- which is often influenced by the price of crude -- was at 72.15 cents US, up 0.10 with an hour to go before North American stock markets open at 9:30 a.m. ET.

The March future contract for a benchmark crude was at $28.67, up 73 cents from the previous close.

The Dow Jones index futures were up 150.0 points at 16,109.0, S&P 500 futures advanced 22.25 points to 1,870.5 and the Nasdaq futures gained 67.25 points to 4,011.5.

The April gold contract was down $14.50 at US$1,184.10 an ounce.
