A 24-year-old man is dead and his brother is in hospital following an apparent head-on collision in Bowmanville Friday evening.
According to Durham police, the men were riding dirt bikes on private property on Maple Grove Road, north of Nash Road, when they collided at around 6:30 p.m.
Both brothers were transported to hospital in Bowmanville where one later died.
The other man, 26, has since been airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital where he remains in serious condition, police said.
Both brothers were wearing safety equipment at the time of the incident, police said.
Police have not identified the brothers at the family's request.
