One person is dead after a suspected impaired driving crash near Pearson International Airport.
It happened near Silver Dart Drive and Jetliner Road at around 1:30 a.m.
Initial reports from the scene indicated that two vehicles collided in the roadway with one of them subsequently bursting into flames.
Peel police say that a 44-year-old man is in custody in connection with the accident, however it is not clear what charges he will face.
The Major Collision Bureau is on scene investigating and police say the intersection is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time.
“Due to fire, it has possibly damaged the asphalt, so they may have crew coming out to repair damage. Once that is fixed, the road can be reopened,” Const. Bally Saini told CP24 at the scene.
