A 23-year-old man has serious but non-life threatening injuries after a stabbing in Brampton early Saturday morning.

Police say “some kind of fight” took place at a home on Moffatt Avenue near Steeles Avenue and McLaughlin Road at around 3:30 a.m.

During that fight, police allege that the victim was stabbed multiple times.

According to Const. George Tudos, the victim then made his way to a nearby home where he called 911. Tudos said that a 911 call was also made from inside the home where the stabbing took place.

Once officers arrived on scene, a male party was arrested.

The victim, meanwhile, was rushed to a trauma centre, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

The relationship between the victim and the suspect has not been revealed.

“I don’t want to speculate on that until we speak to witnesses but I can tell you that this was not an isolated incident,” Tudos told CP24 at the scene on Saturday morning. “This was not a random act.”

Tudos said the investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, as officers still have a number of witnesses to interview as well as the victim.

Meanwhile, several area residents told CP24 on Saturday that the home where the stabbing took place was a rental property with heavy turnover. One man who rents the basement of the home said that the stabbing took place upstairs, where a number of younger tenants live.

Brandon Boodram, 23, is charged with aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing.

Boodram is expected to appear in court for a bail hearing later today.
