Durham Regional Police say they have arrested a man and woman from Keswick in connection with a gunpoint robbery at an Ajax drug store last Sunday.

On May 31, police said a man entered the Rexall pharmacy on Westney Road North in Ajax and bolted towards the drug dispensary counter. He allegedly pointed a handgun at staff and demanded they give him prescription narcotics.

He fled on foot with an unknown quantity of drugs.

On June 4, Durham police officers, with help from the York Regional Police tactical unit, searched a home on Silas Boulevard in Keswick. The pair was arrested and a replica handgun was seized.

Jessica Mitchell, 33, of Keswick was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Scott Vail, 34, of Keswick faces charges including robbery with an offensive weapon, wearing a disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for committing and offence and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
