Investigators are trying to figure out whether there is a connection between a suspected arson and vehicle break-in on the same street early Monday morning.

Two people escaped without injury by the time fire crews arrived at the blaze on Brooke Avenue, near Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue, at about 2:45 a.m.

It's believed the blaze, which broke out in an attached garage and caused about $150,000 in damage, was deliberately set, a fire department spokesman told CP24.

The garage and house filled with smoke as firefighters battled the blaze, but no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.

As police responded to the fire scene, officers noticed at least one vehicle parked on the street had a window smashed out.

House fire in Brampton

Meanwhile, a house fire in Brampton is also under investigation.

The blaze on Norfolk Avenue, near Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road North, was reported shortly after midnight.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly after they were notified by neighbours, who noticed smoke wafting from the house.

No injuries were reported.
