Police in Burlington and Hamilton are investigating after bomb threats were made at a hospital and two post-secondary institutions last night.

Halton Regional Police said that shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to Joseph Brant Hospital on North Shore Boulevard in Burlington after a bomb threat was called in by an anonymous person. Hospital staff was immediately notified, however, nothing suspicious was found.

Similar threats were reported last night at Mohawk College and McMaster University in Hamilton.

Mohawk College’s Fennell Avenue campus was evacuated as a precaution following the threat.

"Last night, about 15 cop cars just showed up and we got a call over the PA and they were telling us to evacuate the building. So we all just jumped up, grabbed our stuff and took off," one Mohawk College student told  CP24 Monday morning.

"They told us to come to the back of the parking lot and they told us to wait there until final orders."

Police said the threat was not deemed to be credible.

Last night, police assisted security at McMaster University to assess a bomb threat against the school but investigators said once again, nothing suspicious was found.

Normal operations are expected at Mohawk, McMaster and Joseph Brant Hospital today.

According to police, similar threats were recently received in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Nunavut.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the incidents to call police or Crime Stoppers.
