Police are searching for a single male suspect who was seen driving away from the scene after a stabbing near Moss Park on Saturday morning.

According to paramedics, one person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the stabbing near Dundas and Sherbourne streets at around 7:30 a.m.

The stabbing occurred as two men got into some sort of physical altercation in the street, according to one witness.

“One of the men had a chain or something and was trying to keep the other man at a distance but in the end they sort of really assaulted each other. They were very angry with each other and were shouting about something,” Florina Nitu said.

The nature of the injuries to the victim are not known, however Nitu told CP24 that she saw one of the men bleeding from his head following the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a six-foot-tall black male with a beard and a facial scar. The suspect, who was wearing a grey track suit, was last seen driving away from the scene in a dirty black one tonne truck with a silver equipment box in the back.

Police are warning people not to approach the suspect and instead call 911.

Sherbourne Avenue is closed from Dundas Street to Gerrard Street as police investigate the stabbing.
