Police in Vaughan are trying to identify a suspect after a woman was punched in the face, apparently for honking at a pedestrian.
York Regional Police said the incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on May 31 in the Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue area.
According to police, a woman was driving east on Cordoba Drive when she stopped at a red light at Bathurst Street. A man was crossing the street and continued to do so after the light turned green. The woman honked her horn at the man, who then walked up to the driver’s side window and punched her in the face, police said.
The woman stepped out of the car and was again assaulted by the man, police said.
She was not injured and declined medical attention.
An image of the man was captured on a dashcam in the woman’s car and police are now appealing to the public to help identify him.
The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 60 and 70 years old. He stands five-foot-eleven with a medium build and has grey hair with a grey moustache and goatee. He was wearing a light-blue collared shirt and beige pants.
