Durham Regional Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly struck two cyclists in Oshawa this morning and fled the scene of the collision.

According to investigators, at around 12:45 a.m. this morning, a Honda Civic brushed beside one cyclist and collided with another in the area of Cedar Street and Wentworth Street West.

Police said the vehicle initially stopped and both occupants got out of the car and approached in the injured cyclists. The two reportedly ran back to the vehicle and then fled the area.

One of the cyclists, a 21-year-old man, was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre. His injuries are believed to be serious.

The second cyclist, an 18-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, police added.

The vehicle wanted in connection with the collision is described by investigators as a white, newer model Honda Civic. The vehicle, police said, has damage on the front passenger side bumper and may also have damage to the hood and windshield.

The driver is described as a white female with shoulder-length hair. Police said the passenger of the vehicle is a white male who is believed to be in his 30s and is reportedly five-foot-eight with a heavy build.
