Niagara police are working to secure two roaming buffalo that escaped from a local farm yesterday.

The creatures were spotted roaming on Sodom Road near the QEW, close to Fort Erie/Niagara Falls boundary at around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said.

“We are working with the owner and our local animal protection partners. Please contact our Communications Unit if spotted,” Niagara police said on Twitter.

Around 1:30 p.m., police said efforts are underway to capture the animals in the area of Willowdell Road, between Schisler and Marshall roads. The road has been close doff as officers try to secure the bison.

“We continue to work with OSPCA and the Bison owner to try and capture the animals safely,” police said.

Police advised motorist to use caution and asked people not to go “bison spotting” in the area as it might agitate the animals.

The spotting comes a day after another one of the escaped bison was struck and killed after wandering onto the QEW.
