Police say they have recovered what appears to be a human hand at a recycling plant in North York.

The remains were found by an employee at the plant near Arrow Road and Deerhide Crescent at around 10 a.m.

Police say they are still working to confirm whether the remains are in fact human.

The grisly discovery comes two weeks after a torso belonging to 30-year-old Melissa Cooper was found outside a Riverdale butcher shop.

Albert Ian Ohab, 38, is charged with one count of committing an indignity to a body in connection with that case.

Police have not said whether this latest discovery of human remains could be related to Cooper’s death.

Investigators are currently on scene at the plant where the remains were found.
