Hundreds of people attended a Brampton church Friday to pay final respects to a 35-year-old pregnant woman who was shot dead in Jamestown earlier this month.

A private service to remember Candice Rochelle Bobb was held at Bramalea Baptist Church on Dixie Road Friday morning. The family asked reporters to give family members privacy, especially for Bobb’s two older children.

Bobb was sitting in a parked car on John Garland Boulevard in Jamestown on the night May 15 with her boyfriend and another friend. They were dropping off a basketball player at home after watching a community game in another part of the city.

Police say one or more assailants approached the vehicle and opened fire.

Bobb was pronounced dead a short while later but doctors performed an emergency C-section to save her baby boy. No one else in the vehicle was injured.

In a news release sent by police on Thursday, Bobb’s family says the little boy continues to gain weight, but is still in serious but stable condition.

The shooting drew widespread condemnation from the community and municipal leaders.

Police say they still do not have a motive for the killing.

No suspect information has been released.
