A rally organized by a group of Toronto women took place Monday night after a string of sexual assaults near Bloor and Christie streets.

The rally, dubbed “Action against Recent Sexual Assaults” in an event listing on Facebook, encouraged people to show up at Christie Pits Park at 7 p.m. to participate in a march through the neighbourhood where the sexual assaults occurred.

“It is an important time to take action, build resistance and take up space,” organizers wrote in the Facebook event listing.

As of Monday morning, more than 525 people have committed to attend the event, according to the organizers’ Facebook listing.

Toronto police are investigating 10 sexual assaults in the areas of the Annex and Kensington Market, which they believe may have been committed by the same male suspect.

All of the victims reported being approached from behind before being sexually assaulted.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
