Regular subway service has resumed on Line 1 following a lengthy disruption that extended through the evening commute.

Trains had been turning back at Sheppard Station due to ongoing power problems at Finch Station that began around 4 p.m.

"We have lost lighting in the station at Finch,” Toronto Transit Commission spokesperson Brad Ross told CP24 Friday afternoon.

“The problem that we thought we had stabilized has reoccurred. We are trying to understand why.”

Shuttle buses were brought in to supplement service.

The immediate cause of the power problems was not known.
