SUDBURY, Ont. -- Police are searching for a missing pilot after rescuing a passenger following a plane crash near Sudbury, Ont.

Greater Sudbury police say they were contacted around 8 p.m. Wednesday for a float plane that crash landed on the Fairbanks Lake.

They say they saved a 32-year-old man who sustained minor injuries, but haven't found the 60-year-old man that piloted the plane.

Police say a massive search is underway involving police and a military search and rescue team from CFB Trenton.

Greater Sudbury police believe the plane is at the bottom of the lake, some 40 metres below the surface.

Transport Canada is investigating the crash.
