Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm warning for the City of Toronto and much of the Greater Toronto Area.

The warning was ended shortly before 10 p.m.

Environment Canada issued the warning in response to a line of severe thunderstorms it was tracking capable of producing strong winds, heavy rain and possible hail.

Outage in Scarborough

Toronto Hydro is currently dealing with an outage in Scarborough.

As of 11:25 p.m., roughly 1,700 customers were without power in the area bounded by Sheppard Avenue East to the north, Meadowvale Road to the west, Kingston Road to the south, and the Rouge River to the east.

A timeline for service restoration was not immediately provided.

Power outages in York Region

Hydro crews are currently investigating multiple outages in York Region.

In a tweet sent out shortly after 8 p.m., PowerStream said that customers are experiencing outages in Richmond Hill, Markham and Bradford.

A timeline for service restoration, and the number of  customers impacted, was not immediately provided.

Downed power lines, trees in Orillia

Police are advising motorists and pedestrians to remain off roads in Orillia due to numerous downed power lines and trees.

“The worst area hit is in the North Ward of the city near Laclie Street, Peter Street and Couchiching Park,” a release issued by Ontario Provincial Police Friday night said.

“Residents are reminded to stay well away from any downed lines and to remain inside their homes if trees or branches have fallen on lines near their homes.”

Orillia Hydro is currently working to restore power outages, the release adds.
