A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Mississauga overnight.

Police say it appears the shooting happened outside a bar on Enfield Place, in the area of Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road, shortly after 3 a.m.

The victim, who is believed to be in his 30s, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, paramedics said on Thursday morning.

He was rushed to a trauma centre, where he remains in serious but non-life-threatening condition.

Polce say there were a number of people in the area at the time of the shooting and are asking any witnesses to come forward.

Investigators are also reviewing security camera footage in the area.

"At this point we don’t have any update as far as culprits," Const.Mark Fischer told reporters at the scene.

"Peel Regional Police are looking for a silver Mercedes-type sedan that was seen leaving the area of this incident."
