Two men were injured when their vehicle crashed and flipped onto its roof during a police pursuit in the city’s Entertainment District early Friday morning, prompting the province’s Special Investigations Unit to launch a review.

Investigators say that at about 2:50 a.m., two police officers in the area of Bathurst Street and King Street West spotted an Audi sedan and attempted to stop it.

The subject vehicle sped away and eventually struck several cars in the area of Portland Street and Richmond Street West and flipped onto its roof.

Two men were taken from the car to St. Michaels Hospital. One suffered serious internal injuries, the SIU said.

The SIU has designated one subject officer and one witness officer as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.

The SIU is called to investigate any incident involving an Ontario police officer and a member of the public that leads to death, serious injury, or an allegation of sexual assault.
