Durham Regional Police say they have charged an Oshawa man in connection with the stabbing death of his elderly father.

The stabbing took place on Carnaby Crescent in the area of Ritson and Rossland roads, at around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 3.

Police were called to the home, where they found a 76-year-old man with multiple stab wounds and no vital signs.

The man, identified by police as Walter Sollows, was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

One male was arrested at the scene without incident, police said.

Police say Tuesday that Clyde Sollows, 53, has been charged with first-degree murder.

This is the second homicide police are investigating in Durham Region this year.
