A 76-year-old man has died in hospital after a stabbing at a home in northeast Oshawa Monday afternoon, Durham Regional Police confirm. 

Police were called to an address on Carnaby Crescent at around 4:30 p.m. for a reported stabbing and found a man with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, the 76-year-old victim was rushed to hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police say a male suspect was taken in to custody at the scene and no other suspects are wanted in connection with the incident.

Members of Durham Regional Police's homicide and major crimes unit are taking over the investigation.
