A suspect who had been sought in connection with a stabbing at a bank in north Etobicoke Monday is dead, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to the branch at 2700 Kipling Ave., just south of Steeles Avenue, at around 4:30 p.m.

According to police, a 34-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times inside the bank by a man armed with a large knife.

She was transported to hospital with serious injuries, police said at the time.

The man fled on foot following the attack.

Several hours later, police responded to a medical complaint call in the Albion Road and Martingrove Road area.

In a release issued Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed that the 50-year-old suspect was located.

He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Details on the cause of the man’s injuries were not immediately provided, however police said that no suspects were being sought in connection with the death.
