A teenager was airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto after he was struck and dragged by a vehicle in Bradford Friday afternoon.

The 14-year-old boy was riding his bicycle through the intersection of Centre and Bingham streets when he was struck by a truck shortly before 2 p.m., an Ornge spokesperson said.

When paramedics arrived they found the boy pinned under the vehicle.

He was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries, Ornge said.

His condition was later described by police as serious, but non-life-threatening.

Police said the driver – a 60-year-old man from Newmarket – remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, police said.
