Odin Camus’ 13th birthday was shaping up to be a disappointing one after his mother says not one child responded to the invitations he sent out for a party on Friday night.

In a Facebook post written by Odin’s mother Melissa on Friday morning, she said the Peterborough teen, who has Asperger’s syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder, struggles to make friends due to his condition.

In the post, she asked members of her community to send him a message on his birthday to make him feel special.

By Friday afternoon, #odinbirthday was trending on Twitter with birthday messages coming in from all over the world.

On a Facebook event page for Odin’s birthday, more than 2,000 people said they planned to attend his party at Lakeview Bowl in Peterborough on Friday night.

Speaking to CTV News Friday, Odin said it is "amazing" that so many people care about his 13th birthday.

"I thought this was going to be just a little birthday but it turns out it turned into a worldwide thing," he said.
