A teenage boy is in hospital after he was stabbed during a Canada Day celebration near Ashbridges Bay Park.

The boy, who is believed to be 16 years old, was stabbed in the abdomen Monday at about 10:45 p.m., shortly after a fireworks display ended.

Police spokesman Const. Victor Kwong said the victim walked up to an auxiliary police officer after he was stabbed.

The stabbing occurred near a swimming pool near Lake Shore Boulevard East and Woodbine Avenue.

Kwong told CP24 the victim underwent surgery in hospital and is expected to survive.

Police arrested two people, but both were later released.

A large crowd was leaving when the stabbing occurred, and police say they are interviewing witnesses to learn more about what happened.
