The city is on the verge of butting out more locations where smokers can light up.

At its meeting today, the Toronto Board of Health is looking at starting a consultation process on banning smoking on bar and restaurant patios, in public building entranceways, hospital grounds, and public sports fields.

If the board approves public consultations, a final decision on extending the ban could come next year.
