One lucky Torontonian will be riding the TTC for free for a year after becoming the transit system’s 30 billionth customer Monday.

TTC CEO Andy Byford and chair Josh Colle greeted Grant Scott at Davisville Station at noon on Monday to give the long-time transit rider a giant novelty Metropass in honour of the milestone.

“He doesn’t have to actually bring this one to the station,” Colle said of the pass, which is valid for one year.

“This is in honour of and recognizing his loyalty to the TTC and our many other riders.”

The TTC says Scott is a "long-time subscriber to the TTC's Metropass Discount Plan" and was selected to represent the customer that made the 30 billionth trip, which was likely made this month.

The TTC, which was established in 1921, currently operates 154 bus and streetcar routes and 69 stations.

The transit service serves an estimated 1.8 million customers each day.

According to officials, the TTC set an all-time record of 535 million rides in 2014 and expects that the number will be even higher in 2015.
