MILTON, Ont. -- A truck driver has been charged with careless driving after a collision in Milton, Ont., sent three people to hospital.

Provincial police say the tractor-trailer was carrying scrap metal when it collided with a passenger vehicle Friday morning.

They say two people from the car were sent to hospital.

Police say that after the collision, the truck veered across the eastbound lanes of Highway 401, and rolled over as it struck the centre barrier.

They say some of the scrap metal in the trailer spilled onto the westbound lanes as the truck rolled over, which damaged three vehicles.

The truck driver wasn't injured, but one person in a car that was damaged by the scrap metal was sent to hospital.

The 22-year-old truck driver from Brampton, Ont., was charged with careless driving.
