Two people are facing charges after a violent home invasion in East York Saturday.

It happened just after 8:30 p.m. at a home near Sammon Avenue and Monarch Park Avenue, within blocks of the East York Civic Centre.

Police say the suspects entered the home and became involved in a violent struggle with the victim. The younger suspect fled, while the other was seriously injured. Police found the injured man suffering from stab wounds and arrested him close to the scene. Both he and the victim were taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say both the victim and the suspects knew each other.

On Sunday the second suspect turned himself in to police.

Both Matthew Rigby, 29, and an unnamed 17-year-old are facing a number of charges, including assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and robbery.

The teenager cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Rigby was scheduled to appear in court this morning at Old City Hall.
